Overview

KinPod Chocolate, Ice Cream, and Coffee is a quietly remarkable spot tucked away in Vernon, BC. At first glance, the unassuming storefront might not catch your eye, but once inside, it quickly reveals itself as a destination for those who appreciate quality and craftsmanship in frozen treats and fine chocolate.

The shop’s strength lies in its meticulous approach to three distinct but harmonious categories: chocolate, ice cream, and coffee. Each has been curated with care, focusing on house-made and organic components that bring a depth of flavor often missing in mass-market options.

Their ice cream deserves particular praise. Visitors often mention generous scoops bursting with rich, authentic flavors like the Blueberry Yuzu Ice Cream Cone, which balances fruity brightness with creamy indulgence. The ice cream pints and popsicles, dipped in rich chocolate, showcase KinPod’s skill in blending traditional techniques with creative twists. The experience is best enjoyed on-site at the modest seating outside, where locals and visitors alike gather, soaking in the easy atmosphere and sometimes roadside charms like classic cars passing by.

For chocolate lovers, KinPod offers an enticing selection: house-made truffles, bonbons, and chocolate bars crafted with care and attention to ethical sourcing. Particularly notable is the espresso milk chocolate sponge toffee, a popular choice that marries crunchy texture with bittersweet espresso undertones. The chocolates here feel like hand-crafted art more than simple sweets.

The coffee menu complements the chocolate and ice cream perfectly, featuring house-roasted, organic beans. The lattes and mochas bring a creamy, rich foundation for their house-made chocolates, while options like the Americano and cappuccino cater to those looking for a straightforward, quality cup. Customers often highlight the coffee not just as an accompaniment but as a standout in its own right—warm, welcoming, and robust.

Beyond the menu, what truly sets KinPod apart is the community connection and customer service. Stories abound of thoughtful gestures, like replacing a dropped ice cream cone free of charge, leaving visitors with a sense of warmth and hospitality. Regulars and newcomers find a comfortable space to savor their treats and unwind.

KinPod targets a diverse audience—from families seeking sweet treats on a sunny afternoon to local connoisseurs of fine chocolate and coffee. Its location in Vernon offers a refuge for both locals and travelers, a hidden gem that invites patrons to slow down and indulge in quality. Though the space is modest, its offerings are anything but, combining care, creativity, and high standards into every bite and sip.

In all, KinPod Chocolate, Ice Cream, and Coffee stands out as a destination worth exploring—not just for a quick sweet fix but as a meaningful experience of flavor, warmth, and genuine care in the heart of Vernon.

When we arrived, there were only 2 cars parking in front. The appearance of the place looks boring and quiet. Things changed when you got in to order. I got the best cold brew ever since I arrived here in Vernon. My son loved his cookies ice-cream. When we sat in front together with some other people, the car park was quickly filled up. That tells how good the ice-cream is. Will be back soon with the whole family.

Edit: I finally returned 18 months later. The place has greatly expanded with new products and an awesome Pacman machine. The Pacman game alone is a draw. The coffee toffee ice cream cost $11. That may price people out, but it is high quality and supporting local. It tasted really good. I am glad I came back. * Original: Kin Pod Chocolate was my 147th eatery in Vernon on my quest to eat at every eatery in Vernon. The selection was quite limited as they are in between seasons. The employee said I just happened to time my visit in between seasons. There was a bag of chocolate lollipop things or a chocolate bar as the only food options. I paid just under $6 for the ethically produced chocolate bar. The chocolate bar was small, but was produced in such a way that it made me feel great about myself and it tasted pretty good. I'll try to come around Christmas time and perhaps give this place a re-review. For now, however, only one food option for a solo visitor leaves something to be desired for a fair trade chocolate enthusiast such as myself. 147 eateries down in town. Only 20 something left to go!

A local business worth supporting. Scoops are huge and you can taste the quality. Have tons of coffee options too. You can sit outside of the bench and enjoy your cone, and, if you're lucky, a neighbouring shop will roll out some beautiful classic cars.

The best ice cream we’ve had in Canada! Tucked away in what felt like the middle of nowhere in Vernon, we weren’t even sure we were heading to the right place—but we’re so glad we did! The owner was incredibly generous and let us sample as many flavors as we wanted. Honestly, every single one was delicious—we had such a hard time choosing our final two! This place is a hidden gem and absolutely worth the visit. They should definitely consider expanding to Vancouver and even out east. One of the most pleasant and memorable surprises of our trip!

Walked here from a hotel in the area, its proximity and being able to do so was a great perk. In relation to the shop itself, it's definitely a surprise find tucked where you might not expect. I was impressed with their clear focus on providing unique and high quality choices within their niche. I'm mainly writing this review to commend the customer service provided. My visit was as a tag-along with someone else excited to treat themselves to a special snack. They accidentally dropped the ice cream off their cone shortly after starting to walk back which left them devastated. I walked back a few minutes later to explain and request a new cone and was provided a replacement free of charge. I find this to be a very kind-hearted policy and was not expected, but well appreciated. Here's a chocolate star for you.

Excellent Coffee, Exquisite Chocolates, Enticing Ice Cream, Eccentric Vibe. Nice local business that takes pride in their crafts and where it is function-over-form all day long. Tucked neatly in a quiet industrial area, it upholds the very definition of a hole-in-the-wall gem. When you find it you kinda want to tell everybody but also not, because you want it to be your little secret, as these kinds of business are rare these days. There’s a Pac-Man machine too, in case heavenly toffee bites, ice cream and Boss Level coffee ain’t yer thang. Stumbling distance from a few hotels in the area but you should be still be able to drive responsibly after visiting. If you have any amount of self respect (or have even the slightest appreciation for good quality treats) do yourself a favour and make the time. This is one place where it is both; journey and destination.

Ice cream that is very tasty and fresh that you end up going back for more. Great hidden gem that has home made ice cream. This is a place you are in need of stopping in at especially on those warm hot summer days. Great price and serving sizes. Lots of different options for those who are looking for a dairy free option or even a dairy option. Chocolate on top of the ice cream tastes great as well!
